About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Data Centre Engineer to join a leading organisation in the Slough area. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a fast-paced, state-of-the-art data centre environment, supporting the infrastructure, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical systems. You will work on a continental shift pattern, providing 24/7 support to ensure seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the smooth running of data centre infrastructure, including servers, storage, and networking equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of hardware and systems.
  • Manage and monitor data centre environmental conditions (cooling, power, etc.).
  • Respond to and resolve technical incidents and escalate as needed.
  • Perform fault diagnosis, repairs, and maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and networking systems.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with health and safety procedures and best practices.
  • Document all maintenance activities and incidents, keeping accurate records.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure upgrades and installations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working within a data centre or similar critical IT environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of data centre infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and networking.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical systems, including cooling, UPS, and backup power systems.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of technical issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle high-pressure situations.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements in a technical environment.
  • Flexibility to work on a continental shift pattern (days and nights).
