Academics are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them thrive both academically and personally.

The Role: SEMH Support Worker- Primary Schools - Croydon

As a Teaching Assistant supporting students with SEMH needs, you will be an integral part of our school community, working closely with both the teaching staff and children to ensure that all pupils feel safe, valued, and supported in their learning journey. You will assist in providing tailored interventions, offer emotional and behavioural support, and help create a positive, structured environment where students with SEMH can succeed.

Key Responsibilities: SEMH Support Worker- Primary Schools - Croydon

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs in both academic and social settings.
  • Support the development and implementation of individualized behaviour plans and learning strategies.
  • Foster a positive and calm learning environment, helping students manage their emotions and behaviour.
  • Work closely with teachers to adapt lesson plans and activities to meet the specific needs of students with SEMH.
  • Monitor and assess students' progress and well-being, providing feedback to the class teacher and other relevant staff.
  • Support students in developing their social skills, resilience, and self-regulation.
  • Assist in the implementation of social and emotional learning programs and activities.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, helping to raise their self-esteem and confidence.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, such as counsellors or support services, to ensure comprehensive support for students.
