A market leader in the ship building sector, based in Southampton are looking to hire a senior Management Accountant to join their growing team. This is an outstanding opportunity with the opportunity to progress to a Finance Manager/Controller role within the next two years.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role will suit a recently qualified accountant seeking an all rounder role in a high growth business. You will gain exposure to senior executives across the business, and be a key part of the finance team and future succession.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Produce accurate and timely quarterly management accounts and yearly accounts and financial statements, alongside managing the day-to-day audit process
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings
  • Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Work with the parent company in providing information for consolidation purposes, for example, intercompany transactions and reconciliations
  • Liaise with the Project Management and Commercial Team to ensure fair contract positions are reported at quarter end (WIP, accruals, remedial provisions, risks and opportunities, stock)
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Work with the finance team and management on reporting and control activities
  • Assist with producing accurate and timely monthly project reports to support wider business decision making and monitoring
  • Conducting project profitability and variance analysis
  • Manage capital expenditure versus budget
  • Support senior management in relevant projects as they arise

Applicants Requirements

  • ACA/ACCA Qualified ideally practice trained
  • Comfortable preparing end to end financial accounts/statements
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • Strong communicator, task orientated, with energy and enthusiasm
  • Comfortable working as part of a small team
  • Deputising for Head of Finance
