The primary objective of this role is to support the development and enhancement of e-liquid products, specifically for those produced in the lab and pilot plant. This contributes to continuous improvement in quality control and product safety, aligning with BAT's goals in advancing new technologies for vaping.
Responsibilities include e-liquid formulation, product development, and following defined work practices or procedures. The role involves collaboration with internal product development teams, reviewing production reports, and summarizing findings.
The role requires a solid understanding of product quality standards, e-liquid chemistry, analytical techniques, and the analysis of consumer-use products such as e-liquids, electronic cigarettes, aerosols, and all related materials.
Experience with e-liquid formulations, including small batch sample preparation and hazardous material management, is preferred. The role holder should be efficient, organized, and able to manage practical activities, time, data, and reporting effectively while maintaining a collaborative and approachable working style.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Formulate e-liquid products in response to technical challenges, contributing to continuous improvement in e-liquid product development.
- Assist with basic wet chemistry tests (e.g., pH meter, NIR, density, UV-VIS, viscosity, flash point) in line with QC standards.
- Manage e-liquid formulation requests, both short and long-term, using formal project management tools when necessary.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure compliance with company standards for safety, security, environmental, quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Perform routine calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Participate in job safety analysis and maintain a clean work area while adhering to appropriate PPE protocols.
- Support the laboratory ISO quality management system and participate in audits.
- Follow and promote quality procedures and standards to help the business achieve and maintain excellent results.
- Receive guidance from Technical Specialists as needed.

Additional Information
- 12-month contract (initially).
- £17.19 per hour.
