To support with the management with any casework provision. This will include the management of key internal and external stakeholders to ensure all formal employee relations within the company is delivered to the required standard and in line with policy, whilst providing a high level of governance.

Client Details

Our client works to prevent the loss of life on the coast and at sea. They produce legislation and guidance on maritime matters, and provide certification to seafarers. Our client is based in Southampton and this particular role is based within their Human Resources and Personnel department.

Description

The key responsibilities for the Employee Relation Advisor/Caseworker are:

  • To work in conjunction with the HR Employee Relations Casework Managers, and managers to ensure that all casework and employee relation activities (including disciplinary, grievance, poor performance, attendance, and probation).
  • Support with the management of all litigation cases including Employment Tribunals and Personal Injury claims, working in partnership with relevant internal and external stakeholders to gather and prepare evidence, witness statements and supporting individuals through the process.
  • To form effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, which includes, but is not limited to: Government Legal Department, Trade Union Representatives, Department for Transport (DfT) Voice of the Customer, DfT Group Policy.
  • Monitor and maintain up to date casework Management Information (MI), identifying trends and risks whilst pro-actively identifying solutions. Support the production of accurate monthly reports to the HR Employee Relations Casework Managers and the HR Employee Relations Lead for reporting to senior management, the Chief People Officer.
  • Work closely with managers and HR colleagues to review case outcome recommendations and if relevant any actions are carried out promptly.
  • Provide training and refresher training when required to responsible investigation, decision and appeal managers and provide support to managers as and when required.
  • Maintain a robust system of governance to cover all aspects of casework including records management, GDPR, tracking and oversight of the legal budget.
  • To ensure adherence to government requirements, statutory legislation and agreed timescales. Providing coaching and support to managers as and when required.
  • Design and deliver manager tool kits to improve management capability.
  • Support with the implementation of any relevant policy changes, including communication to the business and changes to the Staff Handbook.
  • Provide support for the HR Employee Relations Casework Managers including invoice processing, minute taking, and various administrative tasks as required, processing data in line with GDPR legislation.

Profile

The successful candidate for the Employee Relation Advisor/Caseworker is someone with the following:

  • Demonstrable up to date knowledge of employment law and HR experience, including casework management.
  • CIPD qualification (Level 5) or be willing to work towards it.
  • Ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders including senior managers and external service providers.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to effectively manage shifting priorities.
