Sampler to Inspector - Fawley
An exciting opportunity to join a multinational assurance, product testing and certification company as an Inspector based at Fawley refinery. The role will be to draw samples of Petroleum and Chemicals for testing. This position will progress from a Sampler to an Inspector role.
Sampler Role
Assignment: Full time - Perm
Days: Monday-Sunday - 2 week rotational shift pattern
Hours: 7am-3pm
Job type: in person - onsite
Day to day tasks (not limited to)
- Carrying out sampling duties using approved techniques as directed by the Sampler/QHSE Supervisor, travelling to and from client facilities as required, and transporting samples in compliance with road traffic / local site regulations at all times.
- Logging samples in to client laboratory system.
- Participating in Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, where required.
- Ensuring that documented risk and COSHH assessments are consulted for the work being carried out.
- Performing water draw off on Jet tanks as per client instructions/procedures.
Inspector role (Grade 1)
Days: 4 on 4 off – rotation of 3 then 10 days off, then start rotation again
Hours: 12hr shifts – 2 days 6am-6pm, then 2 days 6pm-6am
Day to day tasks (not limited to)
- Ensuring all work carried out in the operation follows the agreed procedures as set out in the generic Management system and relevant local Inspection management system documents.
- Performing by specified methodology; visual observation, volume measurement, temperature measurement, and sampling of commodity materials contained or conveyed in lines, barge tanks, ship tanks, rail tanks, shore tanks, and other vessels.
- Attending commodity material movements involving line and tank transfer or displacement, lightering, and loading and unloading.
- Communicate and coordinate with terminal, transport, and company personnel to promote smooth exercise of duties assigned.
- Monitoring the availability of the supplies needed for the above processes, and to make any needs for such supplies known to the Operations Manager.
- Organising and coordinating jobs so that services are rendered, and reports and samples are submitted, in a timely manner.
- Maintaining work areas, records, and equipment in a clean, organized, and functional condition.
- Verifying and communicating the results obtained, and to make the entries into the appropriate media, whether print or electronic, required to ensure the validity and traceability of the information.
Knowledge/Experience required
- Full UK Driving licence
- Strong communication skills - phone, email, face to face
- Good physical fitness and ability to work alone and unsupervised
- Understanding of COSHH (preferable)
