Contentious Trusts and Probate Specialists – All Levels (Associate, Senior Associate, Partner)Location: HertfordshireI am working on behalf of a prestigious law firm in Hertfordshire, who are seeking Contentious Trusts and Probate Specialists at Associate, Senior Associate, and Partner levels to join their highly regarded Wills, Trusts, and Probate team. Recognized as a leading team in the region by both Legal 500 and Chambers HNW, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic group making a significant impact in this area of law.The OpportunityIn this role, you will advise on all aspects of contentious trusts and probate matters, including:
  • Removing executors or trustees
  • Making or defending claims against executors, trustees, or beneficiaries
  • Challenging Wills or Trusts
  • Inheritance Act claims and Court of Protection disputes
  • Power of Attorney disputes
The successful candidate will also play a key role in supervising junior team members and engaging in business development efforts to grow the practice. You will be joining a firm that values collaboration, high standards of client care, and has a well-established reputation across both Hertfordshire and the broader UK market.About the TeamThe Wills, Trusts, and Probate team is one of the largest and most experienced in the region, comprising four partners, four senior associates, two associates, and five solicitors, supported by a court of protection manager and legal assistants. The firm has a strong client base of local families, as well as high-net-worth individuals from London and beyond, providing a varied and challenging caseload.Candidate ProfileThe firm is open to applications from talented professionals at all levels, whether you are an Associate ready to build your expertise, a Senior Associate looking for more responsibility, or a Partner seeking an exciting new opportunity. The ideal candidates will have:
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in contentious probate
  • A solid understanding of contested trusts and probate matters, including the Inheritance Act
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills
  • The ability to work well within a team
  • Experience with case management systems and efficient working practices
  • Industry-specific accreditation (e.g., ACTAPS or SFE) is highly desirable
