A family business in St Albans is looking for a Accounts Contractor to support them for around 6 months on a part time basis. This is a full-time role in office and requires someone who can look after a broad range of responsibilities.

Ideally the company are seeking someone with experience within the construction industry and ideally will have experience of Eque2.

It is a vibrant and friendly office, and this position will be a key stakeholder between all departments.

The role covers all aspects of project management across accountancy and admin of the projects. Alongside this they need someone who is able to get into the detail and work with the relevant departments to resolve any queries.

The part time hours are fully flexible around people's personal requirements.

The main scope of the role will be to add more accountancy knowledge to the team and to support the director in training and development. The position will also allow this person to look at current processes and implement new ways of working.

Day to day responsibilities:

  • Clear backlog of invoices and reconciliations
  • Look at month end with external accountants to establish what can be done in house going forward
  • Train and develop the team on using the Eque2 system
  • Ensuring all Contracts / Orders received for new projects are set up with Payment Terms / Billing details
  • Set up all new projects on the Eque2 system
  • Check all purchase orders from the Project Team are within budget and correctly allocated
  • Overseeing the purchase invoice process to ensure all are correct and any queries are managed
  • Working with the Project Team to review any issues that occur onsite and ensure any extra costs or credits are recorded correctly
  • Log all job variations and additional costs are billed for
  • Create and send Sales Invoices to support accounts staff
  • Support in clearing any overdue payments
  • Oversee/check CIS process
  • Oversee/check daily purchase/sales ledger queries / direct debits /expenses / credit card
  • Work with the Management Team to streamline processes and reduce overspend and review closed projects
  • Month end reporting
  • Complete VAT return
  • Reconciliations
  • Support external accountants in producing management accounts and year end accounts

This is a mixed role but requires someone who can bring knowledge and experience to the business. The ideal person will be someone who enjoys training and developing other people within a business. At the same time the successful candidate will look at current processes and implement new ways of working.
