Financial Support Officer

Location: St Helens with travel to Liverpool and Warrington offices

Salary: 33,233

Temporary until August 2025

We are recruiting on behalf of one of our Social Housing clients for a Financial Support Officer the North-West.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay up-to-date with welfare benefit entitlements and changes affecting customers.
  • Liaise with HB/DWP services to resolve queries and build strong relationships with DWP Partnership Managers.
  • Proactively challenge DWP claims to safeguard rental income.
  • Signpost customers to internal and external agencies for support and welfare advice to sustain tenancies.
  • Identify and address support needs to help customers sustain their tenancies, including visiting non-engaged tenants.
  • Collaborate with the Income Management Team to address vulnerability issues and ensure adequate support.
  • Contribute to team objectives and attend meetings

Previous Experience:

  • Proficient in using a wide range of relevant IT applications.
  • Strong experience in income management and debt collection enforcement.
  • Knowledge of legal frameworks related to tenancy arrears recovery.
  • In-depth understanding of welfare reform and welfare benefits.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Flexibility to work hours as required to maximize arrears recovery.
  • Experience in case management, including analyzing customer accounts, problem-solving, and maintaining accurate records.
