Are you a compassionate and dedicated Social Worker with a passion for keeping families together? Staffordshire’s Assessment and Staying Together Team is seeking an experienced Social Worker or Senior Social Worker to join their team, providing supportive and dynamic interventions to children and families to ensure children’s safety and well-being while aiming to keep families together wherever possible.

About the Role

As a Social Worker/Senior Social Worker in the Assessment and Staying Together Team, you will play a pivotal role in assessing the needs of children and families, developing care plans that prioritize family preservation, and delivering supportive interventions that help families overcome difficulties. This role is key to ensuring children’s voices are heard, their needs are met, and their safety is maintained within the family home whenever it is safe to do so.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the needs of children and families through detailed, strength-based assessments.
  • Develop and implement intervention plans that provide support to families to help them stay together.
  • Monitor family progress, ensuring interventions remain effective and timely.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, such as health professionals, schools, and local services, to provide integrated care and support.
  • Ensure that safeguarding concerns are addressed, with interventions designed to minimize risk and promote safety.
  • Lead child protection investigations and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989.
  • Provide advice and guidance to families, empowering them to make positive changes and strengthen relationships.
  • Regularly review care plans and contribute to child protection conferences and court proceedings as required.
About You

? A qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.? Experience in children’s social work, particularly in assessment and family support.? Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Working Together to Safeguard Children.? Excellent assessment, communication, and intervention skills.? Ability to work with families under pressure and help them build the skills needed for lasting change.? A commitment to child-centered practice, ensuring the best interests of children are always the priority.
