About the Role:
Are you passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs?

Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Assistant to join a large secondary school in Harrow. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic team focused on helping students overcome barriers to learning and thrive both personally and academically.

Working closely with Heads of Year and class teachers, you'll play a vital role in supporting students who require additional emotional and social guidance (SEMH). This position offers ample opportunities for growth and professional development in a school that values its staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, helping them engage with their education
  • Work collaboratively with Heads of Year, class teachers, and pastoral teams to implement behaviour and well-being strategies
  • Act as a mentor for students, offering 1:1 guidance and small group interventions
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff to create a supportive school community
  • Monitor student progress, documenting interventions and contributing to review meetings
  • Assist in planning and delivering pastoral initiatives that promote student well-being and resilience

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working in a pastoral or support role, ideally in a secondary school setting
  • Knowledge of SEMH needs and strategies to support students with emotional and behavioural challenges
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff
  • A proactive, empathetic, and flexible approach to addressing challenges
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Additional Information:

  • Full-time role, Monday to Friday
  • Paid up to 125 per day, term time only
  • Based in Harrow, London - with excellent public transport links
  • Immediate start, with potential for a long-term placement
