Business Development Manager

Location Hertfordshire UK (Hybrid / Remote)

Salary Circa £70k - £75k basic, plus commission, car allowance, + other benefits

The Role

We at Urus Recruitment are working on behalf of our well-established client to identify a high-calibre Business Development Manager. In this role your expertise will be pivotal in shaping the commercial growth of the business. This role requires a seasoned sales professional with a proven track record of selling highly technical products and services.

Candidates with experience of supplying into the Defence, Instrumentation, systems monitoring

and Lab Equipment sectors will find their skills particularly advantageous.

The Ideal Candidate

Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience in selling to blue chip manufacturing

companies, for example aerospace, defence, high-level instrumentation suppliers. The key skill are looking for is the ability to identify and develop business opportunities to allow our client to achieve its growth targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Driving profitable sales growth in line with targets for existing and new customers

Define and convert target customer / application lists, driving face to face activity and

spreading best practice

Leverage technical skills and market knowledge to drive meaningful sales activity.

Nurturing the sales process through CRM and engaging with other members of the

business to ensure progression

Creation and timely submission of quotations and the provision of technical support to

customers

Provide accurate sales forecasts to management on enquiries, orders and estimates in a

timely manner

Be able to identify and report on competitive trends and industry information.

Provide support and direction for proactive marketing activities.

Regular travels to meet with customers and attend industry events will be required.

Problem solving must have a can do attitude to overcome challenges and get the

job done

Essential Skills and Experience

Minimum of 10+ years of experience in business development, sales, or a related role, with

a proven track record of acquiring new business that is both profitable and on-going

Proven track record of managing the entire sales cycle from lead generation to contract

award.

Experience in market research and analysis, with the ability to report findings effectively.

Familiarity with CRM systems and maintaining sales pipelines.

Prospecting and Lead Generation

Skilled in managing opportunities from lead, RFQ to contract award.

Competent in developing and maintaining strategic account plans.

Experience in contributing to bid management and analysing reasons for

wins and losses.

Capable of providing realistic sales order forecasts with supportive

evidence.

Strong interpersonal skills to instigate and manage meetings with

potential and current customers, both on-site and off-site.

Willingness to attend customer meetings, company exhibitions and

trade events and assist with event planning.

Ensuring KPIs and other business data are readily available to the

management team.

Excellent communication skills to convey changes in monthly planning

during production meetings.

Highly driven with a proactive approach to business development.

Strong attention to detail, especially in reporting and forecasting.

Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and company needs.

Collaborative mindset to work effectively with various departments.

Commitment to following and upholding the companys

environmental policies.

Highly Fluent in English, being able to converse technically.

Must be IT Literate to produce professional quotations and retrieve relevant

documentation.
