My client has a fantastic opportunity for a Project Manager to join their team based at their Teesside office working on education projects. My client is a leading regional main contractor who deliver projects across a range of sectors including health, education, commercial, highways, justice, defence, water and environment.
The role will initially be a multi site based role, with critical responsibility for the management and success of the project, including customer relations, health and safety, quality, environmental, programme and the cost/value of operations. Over time the Project Manage will then be responsible for the one off larger projects the business wins.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing leadership, and energy
- Controlling prelims, and project budgets
- Ensuring the construction works run to strict programme
- Managing pre-construction activities
- Maintaining strict quality control procedures
- Procurement and management of the supply chain
- Management of change - client/Company/supply chain
- Lead regular site meetings with all interested parties
- Conducting regular site safety checks
- Being proactive in the identification and resolution of problems
- Maintaining effective long term relationships with the customer and their representatives/advisors
- Ensuring the project team comply with the Companies Business Management System
- Being proactive in the identification and resolution of problems
- Reviewing methods of working, alternative materials etc. in order to maximise commercial profitability
- Seeking and developing ongoing continuous improvement
- Providing aftercare services to the customer
- Implementing and maintaining the Companys Policies for Sustainability, Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental, Training and Development etc. and acting as an exemplar of the Company culture and values
- Coaching and motivating subordinates
Experience and qualifications
- Detailed knowledge of building regulations
- Experience of project planning
- Experience of a similar role working for a main contractor (essential)
- Professional qualification (desirable)
- SMSTS
- CITB level 3 Safety Course
- CSCS Card Black Card
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Technical knowledge and experience
- Commercial and financial awareness
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Understanding of different contracts e.g. NEC, JCT.
