Our client is a highly successful manufacturer and wholesaler, who supply FMCG products to retail outlets across the UK. They are now looking to recruit an experienced Health & Safety professional, who would be responsible for implementing and maintaining HS&E standards across the business. This is a newly-created position, where the successful candidate will be responsible for drawing up procedures, monitoring HS&E across multiple UK sites, and become the 'go-to' person in the business for all HS&E requirements. Key responsibilities are:

Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures across all sites.
Review and implement emergency planning & evacuation procedures.
Provide health and safety advice and guidance to all levels of the business.
Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans including COSHH assessments.
Develop and deliver health and safety training programs & assist in staff inductions.
Chair environmental & sustainability group meetings.
Organise & prepare OHAS assessments working with the team to ensure corrective action is taken place.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and make recommendations for corrective actions.
Monitor and review health and safety performance metrics.
Keep up to date with relevant health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
Work with external agencies and stakeholders on health and safety issues.
Lead health and safety committees and other relevant forums
Work with team to conduct regular internal audits to ensure we are working to compliance standards.
Lead compliance audits and work with stakeholders on corrective actions.

Skills & Experience required:

Experienced HS&E professional with relevant NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent).
Experienced in implementing HS&E processes in a manufacturing environment would be preferred.
Extensive working knowledge of health & safety at work regulations.
Excellent overall communication skills.
UK driving license, happy to commute to other business locations as required.
Knowledge of OHAS procedures desirable.
Able to work independently, but as part of a team.
Very good general IT skills (MS Office).
