MRD Recruitment is actively looking for a Warehouse Manager to work on a 6-month fixed term contract for our very successful Retail & E-commerce client. This role is based in Sunderland and reports into the Regional Operations Manager.

My client is a family run business with over 60 years of experience in their respective field and is a market leader in their industry. They have multiple stores throughout Scotland and the North of England with a new ecommerce fulfilment centre recently opened in Sunderland.

The successful Warehouse Manager, based in Sunderland, will be exceptionally customer centric and ensure productivity targets are achieved and that all warehouse processes are running smoothly and promptly.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Operations

  • Strategically manage warehouses in compliance with company's policies and vision
  • Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security
  • Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution and maintenance operations
  • Adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements
  • Setup layout and ensure efficient space utilisation
  • Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures, ensuring that all processes are scalable

Team Management

  • Line manage the Dispatch Manager and Assistant Manager, setting objectives and targets for team members, monitoring performance, and providing necessary training
  • Support dispatch management team to recruit, onboard and motivate employees
  • Work with management team to plan work rotas and shifts, assign tasks appropriately and monitor performance
  • Receive, feedback and monitor the quality of services provided

Dispatch

  • Manage the dispatch management team and team of operatives (5-10) to ensure timely product dispatch
  • Ensure customer orders are dispatched correctly, on time and within targets set
  • Produce relevant daily, weekly and monthly reports
  • Work with Digital Operations Manager to identify process and system improvements
  • Work with couriers to ensure timely collections, and adequate space for collection volumes
  • Work with packaging suppliers to source packaging where required

Stock

  • Manage stock control and reconcile with stock system
  • Produce reports and statistics regularly (IN/OUT status report, dead stock report etc)

Requirements & Skills:

  • Proven work experience as a Warehouse Manager.
  • Experience in E-commerce is highly preferable and advantageous. However, a Retail, 3PL or FMCG background of 5 years minimum will also be considered.
  • Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices
  • Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Leadership skills and ability manage staff
  • Good IT skills
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A hard-working can-do attitude
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Stock management and assisting with stocktakes
