Manpower Print & Packaging Division are currently retained on behalf of one of our prestigious partners, a global, industry leading brand within their field. We are looking to recruit an additional Print Assistant, based at their Sunderland site.

This is a permanent position, offering 13.23ph, working a continental shift pattern: 4 days on 4 days off, 6am-6pm/6pm-6am.

You will assist the lead printer in the general operation of the printing press and provide a positive contribution towards meeting required productivity targets and quality standards. The assistant is also responsible for preparing the press for a job change; ensuring all equipment and materials are ready and available.

Duties will include:

  • Unpacking pallets & preparing reels of raw material for press; loading raw materials onto the press unwind unit.
  • Assisting the printer to load and unload plate cylinders and anilox rollers to and from the press.
  • Maintaining sufficient ink supply at press; monitoring reservoirs throughout production and refilling as required.
  • Ensuring spare anilox rollers are clean, fitted with gears and ready for the press.
  • Unloading printed work in progress reels from the rewind unit; weighing, strapping / wrapping and labelling work in progress reels ready to be placed into stock.
  • Using solvent based cleaning agents to clean various press components.
  • Handling of delicate printing plates - stripping plates from cylinders; cleaning & preparing for storage; checking plates for damage or deterioration; reporting any issues to the lead printer.
