An experienced Senior Credit Controller is needed to join a well-established and growing construction business in Sutton Coldfield. This role has become available due to a long-standing team member retiring after 10 years, and the company is keen to bring someone in as soon as possible. As a result, we are recruiting on a temporary-to-permanent basis, with the initial 3-month temp period acting as a probation.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys both the financial and relationship management aspects of credit control. Alongside managing your own ledger and chasing payments, you'll play a crucial role in stakeholder management-liaising with both internal teams and external customers to ensure smooth payment processes. Internally, you'll work closely with heads of Sales and Operations to ensure projects are invoiced correctly and any issues are resolved before chasing payments. Externally, you'll manage key/national accounts, ensuring invoices are reconciled with subcontractor payments and building strong relationships to support effective collections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing your own ledger and ensuring timely payments from key/national accounts.
- Chasing outstanding invoices while reconciling them against subcontractor invoices.
- Working closely with internal stakeholders, including Sales and Operations, to ensure accurate invoicing and project tracking.
- Engaging with external customers to build strong relationships and resolve payment queries.
- Handling disputes and resolving issues proactively to avoid payment delays.
- Ensuring all payments are accurately allocated and accounts remain up to date.
Candidate Attributes and Skills:
- Previous experience in credit control, ideally in a senior or stand-alone role.
- Experience within the construction sector is desirable but not essential.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally.
- Ability to reconcile invoices and manage complex accounts.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive and organised approach to managing a busy ledger.
- Must be immediately available or on a short (one-week) notice period.
Benefits:
- Hybrid working (4 days in the office, 1 from home, with potential for more flexibility in the future).
- Flexible working hours to support work-life balance.
- Opportunity to join a growing business with long-term career prospects.
- Standalone role with full ownership of the credit control function.
- Competitive salary and onsite parking.
If you're ready to take on this fantastic opportunity and can start immediately, we'd love to hear from you!
