Reed Accountancy are currently representing an established business in Swindon in securing a capable and experienced Finance Manager to join their small team.

The Finance Manager will supervise the accounts staff and providing support and training as needed. The role requires collaboration across all departments to maintain company finances and adherence to financial strategies.

Duties & Responsibilities

Manage the accounts and office function for day-to-day operations.

Prepare monthly management accounts.

Prepare year-end accounts for external auditors, including wages and hire purchase contracts reconciliation.

Prepare and post monthly journals (insurances, hire purchase interest, etc.).

Manage fixed asset registers and ensure correct depreciation.

Prepare monthly and quarterly VAT returns.

Prepare and submit P11D.

Perform monthly bank, debtors, and creditors reconciliations.

Oversee invoice processing and payments under the Construction Industry Scheme, including monthly CIS 300 returns and annual levy return.

Authorize employee expense claims.

Monitor employee holidays, absences, deductions, and attachments to earnings.

Ensure timely payment of PAYE/NI/CIS/NEST.

Maintain integrity of accounting systems.

Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and legislation.

Follow the company's equal opportunities policies.

Manage personnel within the scheme of delegation.

Motivate staff within a creative and supportive culture, ensuring regular communication.

Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Welfare Policy, including risk assessments and safe systems of work.

Optimize use of resources (including IT hardware and software) for efficient service delivery.

Deputize for the Finance Director as needed, including attending meetings.

Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act.

Assist the Finance Director with risk management and business continuity planning.

Perform other duties as required, commensurate with the role's responsibility level.

Core Skills & Experience

Appropriate accounting qualification or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years in a similar role).

Ability to deliver results under pressure and tight deadlines.

Experience with accounting and financial applications.

Strong Excel skills for accurate financial spreadsheets.

Thorough understanding of business principles and practices.

Ability to work independently and as part of the management team.

Understanding of data privacy standards.

Ability to liaise with all levels of the organization.
