We are working with a Swindon Borough Council who are looking for Repairs Surveyor.

You will deliver a first-class, right-first-time repairs and compliance service for our customers, working in our homes, corporate buildings, and out in our communities.

Through your technical expertise and accredited qualifications, you will ensure that surveying activity leading onto necessary repairs are carried out in line with industry standards and best practices, ensuring our properties remain in excellent condition and our customers receive the highest level of service.

Location: Swindon Borough Council 

Set-up: Hybrid – 2-3-days a week on-site per week

Rate: £347/day via umbrellla inside IR35

Duration: Initial 48-weeks, potential extension

Hours: Full-time position

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct regular condition/building surveys to identify repair and maintenance needs.
  • Responsible for creating reports, specifications and scott schedules including cost estimates based on the Schedule of Rates
  • Prioritise repair requests based on urgency and impact, using defect diagnosis techniques and a risk-based approach
  • Responsible for liaising with contractors and internal maintenance teams, ensuring compliance with building regulations and health and safety standards
  • Accountable for identifying and overseeing repairs in cases of disrepair and complex damp and mould
  • Accountable for resolving resident complaints and complex issues related to repairs and maintenance to the councils Service Level Agreements

Requirements:

  • Local Government experience required for initial shortlisting, then thereafter at the client’s discretion
  • A thorough understanding of UK building regulations, construction methods, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • A detailed understanding of UK building regulations, construction methods, and materials.
  • To have detailed knowledge of all building crafts and building pathology
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to construction and building maintenance.
  • Ability to provide witness statements for use in a Court of Law
  • Experience of ‘lone’ building surveying in a relevant sector
