Dunbar Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Telford. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the life of a child with special educational needs (SEN). You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support, ensuring the child can access the curriculum and thrive in a mainstream school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with special educational needs, both academically and socially.

  • Adapt learning materials to suit the child's individual needs and abilities.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Assist with personal care needs, if required.

  • Support the child in developing independence and social skills.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

  • Monitor and record the child's progress, providing feedback to the teacher and parents as needed.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN) is essential.

  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the child.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
