Assistant Technical Manager

Reed Food & FMCG are currently recruiting for an Assistant Technical Manager to join Food Manufacturing Company in Gloucester. Reporting to the Head of Technical, this role is crucial for developing our company’s understanding and expertise in the “science” of flour. You will also serve as a deputy technical team lead for Gluten Free operations.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for the next step in their career, you will be part of a small Technical team and therefore have exposure to lots of different roles within the business, perfect for someone who is looking to take their career to the next level.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Assist with BRC documentation, communications, and training across the production team to foster a robust quality culture.
  • Engage in quality management system tasks including third-party certification maintenance, HACCP team activities, internal audits, non-conformance reporting, and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain accurate records for pest control, calibration, hygiene, complaints, metal detector logs, and chemical control including COSSH.
  • Deputise for the technical team lead for Gluten Free in their absence.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in food-related science or equivalent.
  • Experience with unique flour testing equipment and laboratory test baking.
  • Direct involvement in BRC or closely related Quality Management System within a Flour Mill environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Flexible and stress-tolerant with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
