We are looking for driven and ambitious Finance Manager to join our team!

Overview of Role

The role is the most senior finance role on site, and as such the individual needs to be experienced and confident in their ability and approach.

The role offers a blend of commercial analysis and traditional finance activity. As with all finance roles the primary focus is to produce a set of accurate and well understood management accounts. The individual will take ownership of the numbers, producing a P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow and ultimately reporting the results, fielding queries and questions from relevant stakeholders as required.

The role holder will be expected to navigate confidently their way around the financial statements, analysing the P&L, understanding the balance sheet with the appropriate ledger reconciliations, and producing a cashflow as required. They will be responsible for delivering month end accurately and in a timely manner.

They will be expected to hold monthly reviews of the management accounts with key stakeholders, discussing the ledger reconciliations that underpin the Balance Sheet in terms of risk and opportunity. Providing detailed analysis of product profitability and customer profitability will also be a key focus area, supporting the MD & FD, helping them to understand where the risk and opportunities are in their numbers. There is also an opportunity to bring a more forward-looking view to the business, forecasting the financial statements out to the end of the year, highlighting risk to delivering the budget, or potential areas of out-performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as the senior finance lead on site

Provide the appropriate level of challenge and guidance to the Management team

Responsible for day-to-day financial operations

Supporting the team on site as required including line management

Managing bank payments, including foreign currency payments

Day to day book-keeping within the company as required

Manage the monthly reporting timetable

Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and key control accounts

Reconcile and agree Inter Company balances

Debtor control and management, reviewing credit risk and customer payment performance

Preparation of cash flow forecasts

Ownership of the onsite budget and reforecast process

Translating the guidance provided into local actions and timelines

Collating the budget/forecasts and presenting relevant variance analysis to the MD and FD

Lead the Audit process on site

Allocate the actions as appropriate to the appropriate staff and ensure the Audit actions are delivered in a timely manner

Assisting in the preparation of annual statutory accounts and liaising with the auditors

Financial processes and control

Identifying weaknesses and correcting where appropriate

Identify risks and opportunities on the balance sheet

Regular reviews of the balance sheet for risk items and identify the correct level of provisioning

Commercial support

Providing analysis of margin by customer and products highlighting key trends and potential issues

Generating monthly P&L forecasts

Adhoc projects and financial process improvement, for example;

Automation of processes

Support with variety of HR tasks in line with the UK HR Strategies and timelines

Stockcontrol &valuation, standard cost analysis and the relationship to Cost of Sales

Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT Returns

Skills and Experience:

At least 3 years experience in a manufacturing, distribution or stock-based industry

Good understanding of stock control, valuation, and the impact on the financial statements

Part qualified studying to completion, fully qualified or QBE

Excel skills are essential, pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs etc.

Team leader/supervisory experience
