Quality Engineer

Location: Staplehurst, Kent

Salary: £29k - £35k, DOE

Hours: 40 hrs per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Join a team at a leading company in the design and manufacture of specialist products. We are currently seeking a Quality Engineer to help promote a quality culture throughout an established organisation. This is a hands-on role ideal for an experienced Quality Professional with a strong background in quality control and process improvement within a manufacturing environment.

Day-to-day of the role Quality Engineer role:

  • Coordinate with the quality teams to ensure all products are final inspected to meet production deadlines.
  • Plan and conduct regular internal audits.
  • Create key documentation and raise both internal and external non-conformances.
  • Investigate root causes and coordinate the implementation of permanent corrective actions.
  • Assist with ISO 9001 management system duties, including the creation of process flows and SOPs.
  • Ensure suppliers meet quality specifications and liaise with customers over quality concerns & concessions.
  • Manage quality targets, generate, and maintain KPIs for the business.
  • Assist in maintaining the Calibration System and implementing & monitoring key Quality Controls (FMEA’s/ 8D).

Required Skills & Qualifications of the Quality Engineer:

  • Experience in fine limit sheet metal inspection.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, tolerances, and first principle measuring techniques.
  • Proficient in raising non-conformance reports and conducting investigations to establish root causes.
  • Familiar with FMEA, 8D, AQAP processes; PPAP process experience would be an advantage.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to relay information internally & externally.
  • Strong organisational skills with an attention to detail and a focused approach to work.
  • Proficient IT skills and use of ERP systems.

Desirable Skills of the Quality Engineer:

  • Experience of auditing to ISO 9001 level.
