Finance Manager (Charity) - Truro / Hybrid- Circa: £43,000 + Excellent financial/non-financial benefits

Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been exclusively reengaged by a longstanding client, a rapidly expanding and highly respected charitable organisation. The charity seeks to recruit an experienced Finance Manager to join them in a newly created position. This opportunity is offered as a full time, permanent contract but also benefits from a generous hybrid/flexible working arrangement - details to be discussed with shortlisted candidates.

Working closely alongside the organisation’s long standing and highly experienced Director of Finance, the successful candidate will manage a small team and play a key role in overseeing the charity’s operational financial controls. Key responsibilities to include:

- Manage, mentor and develop a small team of transactional focussed colleagues

- Prepare a range of detailed management information packs

- budgets, cashflow forecasts and management accounts

- Oversee all aspects of the accounts payable function and supplier payment runs

- Manage the accounts receivable function

- Ensure accurate financial reconciliations

- Assist the DoF in year-end procedures, statutory accounts and charity audit

- Continuously seek ways to improve, develop and streamline the finance function to include digital system enhancements

- Ensure adherence to charity accounting standards and SORPS

- Deputise for the DoF where required

- Ad-hoc assistance across other areas of the organisation where required

The ideal candidate: The successful candidate will have recently gained experience gained in a similar capacity, ideally managing a small team and with a good knowledge of the end-to-end finance lifecycle. Whilst experience gained within a regulated not-for-profit environment would be advantageous, our client is open minded and welcomes applicants with commercial finance experience gained in any sector, or a practice leaver seeking their first commercial role. Applicants should be qualified AAT as a minimum, or possess a suitable level of vocational experience. The incoming FM will certainly require sound management/supervisory experience, excellent IT aptitude and the ability to work with and communicate effectively with colleagues across all areas of the organisation. The role works as part of a motivated, passionate and energetic management team whose enthusiasm for the future the charity is infectious - a like-minded, team playing attitude would work exceptionally well for this appointment.
