This is a fantastic opportunity with an award-winning firm based locally in Tunbridge Wells. We welcome applications from candidates with any legal secretary experience or medical secretary experience.

Main Duties:

  • Ensure the smooth flow of documents and correspondence in and out of the department.
  • Type legal documents from handwritten notes or transcribing digital dictation.
  • Scan, email, and fax correspondence and documents as required.
  • Undertake file management, including opening and closing files and filing all relevant documents.
  • Prepare trial bundles and photocopy as necessary.
  • Answer routine telephone calls, take new inquiries, and deliver messages.
  • Manage the Fee Earner's diary, organizing internal and external meetings.
  • Provide support to other secretaries in the department or across the firm as needed.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties assigned from time to time.

Personal Skills Required:

  • Interest in legal matters with a strong understanding of confidentiality.
  • Well-organised, careful, and conscientious approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Capability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Clear speaking and writing skills.
  • Strong grammar skills with a good grasp of the English language (spelling, punctuation, and sentence construction).
  • Enjoyment of contact with others, possessing good social skills including tact, patience, understanding, and persuasiveness.
  • Smart appearance.

Qualifications/Education Required:

  • Good standard of general education, especially in English.
  • Numerate and literate.
  • Proficient in word processing skills/qualifications.
  • Training as a legal secretary or relevant qualification.
