Join a leading laboratory as a Facilities and Environmental Officer. This role offers a dynamic work environment where you will be instrumental in managing both facilities and environmental compliance, ensuring efficient and safe operations within the pharmaceutical industry.

This is a hands-on role where the successful applicant will be providing maintenance support to site equioment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Building Maintenance: Coordinate routine inspections, minor repairs, and liaise with external contractors for larger repairs and upgrades. Assisting with building maintenance tasks, including routine inspections, minor repairs,
  • Contract Coordination: Manage maintenance schedules, contractor services, and maintain effective communication with vendors.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee and conduct maintenance on critical laboratory equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Facilities Maintenance: Address internal maintenance requests promptly and manage urgent facilities issues effectively.
  • Environmental Compliance: Monitor activities related to environmental standards, including waste disposal and emissions tracking.
  • Emergency Response & Security: Act as an emergency responder and ensure site security, coordinating staff and activities during out-of-hours emergencies.
  • Inventory & Purchasing Support: Assist in purchasing lab equipment and manage facility deliveries, maintaining an equipment master manual.
  • SOP Management & Documentation: Develop and update standard operating procedures for facilities and environmental tasks, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Environmental Support: Support the implementation of the company’s sustainability goals.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in facilities management or a similar role.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across multiple departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet strict deadlines.
  • Full UK driving license and use of own car for work-related purposes.
  • Experience in a laboratory environment and familiarity with lab equipment and environmental monitoring procedures is desirable.
  • Knowledge of quality standards in a laboratory setting.
