Job Overview:

To undertake a variety of processes including the detailed assembly of components and associated assemblies involving metals, composites and plastics using traditional manual craft skills to the required quality standards and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings (build plans to ensure that part numbers, drawing issues, relevant ADR’s, process specifications and finishes can be accurately identified and applied.
  • Understand and use the process specifications and apply the appropriate controls during manufacture including date sensitive compounds, calibrated items, batch control, build procedures and material specifications.
  • Using SAP - work in progress is accurately recorded at all times, processing of component batches, location of components and parts are accurately recorded.
  • Conversant with and employ appropriate techniques as specified on the job cards relevant to specific component - processes are carried out in accordance with laid down SOP’s, job kit has been checked, health and safety is adhered to and productivity is maintained.
  • To undertake self inspections (and where authorised apply an inspectors stamp).
  • To monitor the fitness for purpose of tools and equipment and provide their replacement / recalibration.
  • Handling of materials, goods and components.
  • Reporting dangerous practices and other dangers.
  • Spin riveting.
  • Composites.
  • Heat injection press.
  • Royalite.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Aerospace experience.
  • Riveting processes, operating vertical milling machines, gluing/bonding processes, presses or injection moulding.

Qualifications:

  • GCSE’s (Grades A - C).
  • Mechanical apprenticeship
  • NVQ 3 engineering practices.
