RT29 - Plumbing LecturerSalary: £32,455 - £45,260 Per Annum (£5000 Extra per annum for highly experienced candidates)Location: UxbridgeOverviewFirst Military Recruitment are seeking a full time Plumbing Lecturer to join one of our renowned clients. You will be required to teach on a range of programmes, including NVQ Level 2, Diploma in Plumbing Levels 2 and 3 (City and Guilds/EAL Technical Certificate) and Level 1 units in Plumbing and Building Services Engineering.You will need to be qualified to Level 3 in Plumbing and have experience of working in the Plumbing industry.  You will need to have teaching or training experience within the subject area, with good communication skills, and the ability to motivate and engage 16-18 year old learners. You will be supported to develop your career in teaching, including receiving full funding towards a Level 5 teacher training qualification if you do not already possess this.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Full time - 36 Hours per week.
  • Teach on a range of programmes in relevant subject area.
  • Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and resource materials for teaching programmes.
  • Carry out formative and summative (tests, coursework and exams), assessment of students and use target setting to maximise success.
  • Assess students’ progress regularly including the timely marking of work and giving feedback, both written and oral.
  • Work towards the integration of students’ basic skills’ development in the delivery of teaching and learning.
  • Promote Equal Opportunities and implement the College’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • Provide a secure, safe and friendly learning environment including implementation of College’s Health & Safety Policy and Safeguarding Policy.
  • Understand and comply with Safeguarding legislation and ensure that best practice is embedded in all working practices as required.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, ensuring that this commitment is demonstrated in all aspects of the role as appropriate.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in Plumbing or Heating (NVQ or C&G Advanced Craft).
  • Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. DET) or willingness and ability to work towards a Level 5 teaching qualification, supported by the College.
  • A1 assessor award or willingness to undertake one.
  • Plumbing industry experience.
  • Experience of teaching / training in the subject area.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the relevant subject area.
  • Ability to inspire vocational learners aged 16-19
  • Good written communication skills.
  • Good classroom practice.
  • Understanding of the importance of Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding in an education environment.
  • Commitment to learners and learner achievement.
