About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children in KS1 and KS2. At Randstad, we match your skills and preferences with our clients' needs. Upon joining, you'll receive support from a dedicated consultant who will answer your questions and maintain consistent communication throughout your job search and beyond. You'll primarily work with children in specialised schools in the Wakefield area.

These schools employ diverse methods to assist children in both educational and personal development, addressing the evolving challenges faced by learners, families, staff, and communities.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children's personal and educational information.
  • Collaborate with professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists to provide comprehensive support.
  • Manage crisis situations, like meltdowns or behavioural challenges, with calm and professionalism.
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of children with SEN, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and accommodations.
  • Assist in teaching essential life skills such as time management, organisation, and self-advocacy to prepare children for life beyond school.
Requirements:
  • Solid understanding of the national Key Stage Curriculum.
  • Proficiency in teaching techniques for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Thorough knowledge of child development and the learning process.
  • Strong commitment to building positive relationships with children and understanding their needs.
  • Ability to provide personalised attention, encouragement, and assistance with learning tasks.
  • Possession of an Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one through Randstad.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship.
