Accelerate Teaching is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Special Needs School in Wakefield. Role Overview:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the tailored support necessary to thrive in their educational journey. Working closely with teachers and other support staff, you will help create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support students in developing social and communication skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to monitor and assess student progress.
  • Assist with classroom management and organisation.
  • Engage with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and well-being.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a special needs setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A relevant qualification in education or child care is desirable but not essential.
