We are pleased to announce that we are currently recruiting for a Welding Supervisor for our successful client based in the Wallsend area on a potential long-term contract.
With an immediate start and likely to continue long term, subject to the client's’continuing requirements.
You would be working a Backshift 42-hour week - Monday to Thursday - 16:00 - 01:00hrs and Friday - 15:30 - 00:00hrs.
For the first 38 hours worked and approved - £28.32 per hour.In excess of 38 hours worked and approved - £36.82 per hour.Saturday hours worked and approved - £42.48 per hour.Sunday & Bank Holiday hours worked and approved - £56.64 per hour.
Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to for the Welding Supervisor: -
• To keep accurate records of personnel and work tasks of team of workers • Ensure all workers are trained, competent and permitted to carry out their respective tasks (or are supervised by a competent person).• Make full and effective use of Toolbox Talks to communicate with team and to provide details relating to the wor• Have an in depth knowledge of, and ensure their team are aware of and familiar with the requirements of the Company’s Compliance Policy, Safety Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work, Health and Safety Policies and Company  Procedures and that these are applied to all operations carried out on site. • Ensure that the identified PPE is worn and used correctly at all times.• Carry out risk assessments (and COSHH Risk Assessments) as directed by the Company. Ensure that the effectiveness of the implementation of the risk control measures is monitored.• Acquaint themselves with the hazards arising from operations and convey these to the team.• Ensure that all tools and machines to be used in his area of work are safe and serviceable and that the machines comply with the current test validity. • Ensure that all necessary forms and registers are maintained as required and that all incidents that occur are fully investigated and reported.• Reading technical drawings as required • Work at height.• Management and leadership of a team of workers – co-ordinating work tasks and monitoring progress, completing/checking performed hours, assisting where necessary with holiday, disciplinary, investigation and performance processes  in consultation with HR and/or Production Manager.• Full use and maintenance of all PPE including Boots/overalls/glasses/ear defenders/hard hat/occasional air fed mask and gloves
Ideal candidate:
• To have completed an Apprenticeship, or other recognised training period (minimum 4 years) in relevant trade.• Experience in a similar position working in heavy engineering/ Offshore/ Marine Industry.• Supervisory experience in Welding.
