An experienced Finance Business Controller is sought for a leading organisation based in Watford. This role is critical to the financial management of a key regional area within the group, providing comprehensive financial oversight and partnering with operational management to drive sound decision-making and ensure robust financial controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all financial activities for the entity, offering valuable insights and support to management and operational teams.
  • Lead the accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Conduct regular forecasting and budget reviews, analysing variances and ensuring financial goals are met.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the P&L statements and maintain strong financial controls.
  • Support the implementation of group directives, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Maintain the integrity of accounting systems and financial data.
  • Oversee all aspects of the Balance Sheet.
  • Collaborate closely with senior management to provide financial advice and strategic insights.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Background in Construction, Civil Engineering, or a similar project-based industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with project or contract-based financial management.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) — fully qualified, near qualification, or actively working towards it.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and SAP.
  • Strong commercial acumen with excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to produce accurate and reliable financial information.
  • A valid UK driving licence is required, as the role includes occasional travel.

Benefits:

  • Salary £55,000 - £60,000 plus benefits package including a car allowance, up to 10% bonus, and private medical cover.
