Financial Controller
Location: WednesburyType: PermanentSalary: £50,000-£55,000 Per Annum
Overview:
The Financial Controller will oversee the entire finance function, sit on the operations team, report to the Board, and support other business managers. The ideal candidate will confidently present information to the Board, represent the company professionally, and provide clear direction to a team of four (Accounts, Payroll, IT, Reception).
Main Responsibilities:
- Financial Accounting Functions:
- Manage day-to-day accounting matters, including purchase/sales ledger control, VAT, PAYE, payroll, and bank transactions.
- Prepare and issue accurate management accounts packs and KPIs within tight deadlines.
- Present financial information to the management team and Board at monthly meetings.
- Oversee the year-end audit process.
- Prepare annual budgets and forecasts.
- Ensure strict compliance with financial controls and accuracy of all accounting data.
- Manage cash flow, prepare cash flow forecasts, and handle payments.
- Maintain and improve internal control procedures.
- Liaise with banks and other external parties as needed.
- Oversee the IT function.
Experience / Competencies:
- Qualified accountant, possibly seeking their first Financial Controller role.
- Strong financial acumen and attention to detail.
- Comprehensive understanding of management accounts preparation.
- IT literate, with the ability to quickly learn and improve the company's computer system (Sage 200).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Leadership skills to manage and develop a team.
- Self-starter with a drive to improve systems and processes.
