Full-time | Office-based | £35,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience)We’re working with a long-standing distribution business based in West Bromwich who are looking to bring in an Assistant Accountant to join their close-knit finance team.This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys getting stuck into the detail and wants to grow into a broader month-end role over time. You’ll be starting with full ownership of the purchase ledger, and as you get to grips with the business and their processes, you’ll gradually transition into helping with the monthly management accounts.What you'll be doing:
  • Taking the reins of the purchase ledger – from matching and coding invoices to reconciling supplier statements and handling payment runs
  • Liaising with suppliers and resolving any invoice queries
  • Supporting with month-end tasks such as accruals, prepayments, and journal postings as the role develops
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with ad-hoc reporting and projects as needed
What we’re looking for:
  • Previous experience in a similar finance role (purchase ledger experience is a must)
  • A proactive attitude – someone who’s happy to take ownership of their work
  • Great attention to detail and strong communication skills
  • Someone who’s either studying towards AAT / ACCA / CIMA or qualified by experience
  • Comfortable working full-time on-site in West Bromwich
