(Financial Controller) - Position Overview

My client is a leading UK logistics company, specialising in next-day and same-day delivery of air and sea freight, and the distribution of heavy and dangerous consignments within the UK

As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the efforts and results of the financial department. Report all financial and accounting activities to the CFO. Overseeing financial department staff in day-to-day operations

  • Oversee all company accounts.
  • Create weekly, monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.
  • Supervise and manage financial department staff.
  • Motivate and lead Finance team members by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback.
  • Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
  • Ensure financial reporting systems comply with government regulations and legislation
  • Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
  • Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports.
  • Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities.
  • Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies.
  • Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations.
  • Liaise and control the annual finance audit.
  • Report timely and accurate financial information to the CFO.
  • Assist the CFO in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.
  • Assist both the MD and CFO in other reasonable tasks to support business progress.

(Financial Controller) - Position Requirements

  • Formal Accounting Qualification or working towards the same.
  • QBE would be considered.
  • At least 5 years working experience within a similar role.
  • Strong Excel knowledge and skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant data analysis.
  • Understanding of P&L statements.
  • Organised with good planning skills.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Calm under pressure.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle pressure in unforeseen circumstances.

(Financial Controller) - Position Remuneration

  • Hybrid (Polar Park Heathrow and home) - generally 3 days in office
  • You may be required to travel to other company locations and client locations from time to time.
  • £50k to £70k
  • Monday - Friday
  • 9:00am - 18:00pm, including a 1-hour unpaid break. Contractual 40 hours a week. (Felxibility in work hours may be necessary)
  • 25 days plus bank holidays
  • 4 weeks' notice (after probation)
  • Auto Enrolment Pension
