The Prax Foundation is currently seeking a talented, proactive and personable Part TimeAdministrator with a genuine passion for worthy causes to take full responsibility for running Roots. The Administrator must be hands-on and understand the Foundation will take an active role in any venture it decides to embark on.

About the charity:

The Prax Foundation, Roots, was formally established as a UK charity in 2010 by the founders of the Prax Group; the name having been inspired by the fact that their roots are in Sri Lanka, and the charity’s first projects are based there. The Prax Group is the main donor to the Foundation. The charity is run on a zero-cost basis, with every dollar that the Group donates going directly to Roots.

The trustees’ objectives are to:

• Raise funds for the Foundation

• Make sure these funds are used wisely• Relieve poverty and sickness• Advance the education of girls, and children in general

HostelsThe charitable Foundation, which is overseen by the Carmelite Sisters, an order of Catholic nuns, is currently responsible for the welfare of 80 girls (a number that is increasing all the time), at two hostels in Sri Lanka, located in Adampan and Murankan.

Current InitiativesAt present, there are Roots donation boxes in all Harvest Energy filling stations in the United Kingdom. The Prax Group also organizes several fundraising events throughout the year. Historically every Christmas, the teams in the Group’s offices around the world get together to wrap up gifts, which are then sent to Sri Lanka and given to every girl.

Future InitiativesIn 2019, a steering Committee was established to consider the expansion of the Foundation’s projects to other parts of the world (with a particular focus on Africa) and to make the charity more international.

The Key responsibilities in this role will be:

• Ongoing oversight of existing projects including the hostels, collection boxes, food banks and clothes collections.• Fundraising including auctions, events, etc.• Identifying new causes for the Foundation to support.

• Raising the profile of Roots within the Prax Group and organizing "Roots Day".• Work as part of the Foundation Steering Committee.• Liaison with multiple stakeholders including donors, auditors• Monthly meetings and presentation to the PFS board• School breakfast scheme• Quarterly workshops in the offices to raise the Roots profile• Regular engagement with Food banks• Donations to appeals• Responsible for banking and payments on Roots banks accounts• Responsible for the budget for Roots

You will have the following experience/qualifications:

• Outstanding organizational, administration & social media skills.• Excellent communicator able to engage diverse audiences.• Prior experience of organizing events, public relations.• Experience of planning & budgets.

The role is based in our offices in Weybridge and offered on a part time basis, Monday to Friday 8.30-2.00pm.
