We are currently recruiting for an experienced Groundworks Foreman on behalf of a well-established house developer based in West Wales. Our client has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality residential developments, and they are looking to expand their team to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of groundworks on their upcoming projects.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Groundworks Foreman to take on a leadership role, managing the groundworks team on-site while contributing to the successful completion of new residential builds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision & Leadership:

    • Oversee and manage a team of groundworkers on residential construction sites, ensuring that all work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards.
    • Delegate tasks to team members and ensure that they are following project specifications, safety regulations, and quality control measures.
    • Provide guidance and training to junior members of the team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Site Management:

    • Ensure all groundworks activities are carried out efficiently and in accordance with site plans and specifications, including excavation, drainage, foundations, and roads.
    • Monitor the progress of work, ensuring deadlines are met and identifying any potential delays or issues that may arise.
    • Liaise with site managers, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth coordination of activities.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance:

    • Maintain a high standard of health and safety on-site, conducting regular safety briefings and ensuring all team members adhere to safety protocols.
    • Ensure compliance with building regulations, environmental policies, and other relevant legislation.
    • Conduct regular inspections of the site and equipment, reporting any issues and ensuring prompt resolutions.
  • Quality Control:

    • Oversee the quality of work carried out by the groundworks team, ensuring that it meets the required standards.
    • Address any quality issues on-site and ensure that corrective actions are implemented.
  • Resource Management:

    • Manage and monitor the resources required for groundworks, including materials, tools, and equipment.
    • Ensure that resources are available on-site and are used efficiently.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience working in groundworks, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or foreman role, ideally within the residential construction sector.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Groundworks Knowledge: Strong technical understanding of groundworks processes, including foundations, drainage, excavation, and roads.
  • Health & Safety: A thorough understanding of health and safety regulations, with experience implementing safety measures on construction sites.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify problems and find practical solutions to ensure project progress.
  • Qualifications: A valid CSCS Card (Supervisor level) is essential. SMSTS or similar health and safety qualifications are desirable.
  • Tools & Equipment: Familiarity with the tools and machinery used in groundworks and an understanding of how to operate them safely.
