Business Support Officer

We are working with Wigan Council to find a Business Support Officer on a temporary basis. This position involves a blend of administrative support, data management, and customer service, ensuring efficient operations within the team.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide administrative support across various areas, including inputting documentation related to housing act notices and civil penalties.
  • Handle enquiries efficiently from multiple sources such as telephone, letters, email, and mobile applications.
  • Input and extract data from various ICT systems, including our case management system, Locata.
  • Set up meetings, take minutes, and monitor the team's inbox, triaging incoming work and responding to enquiries about empty homes within the borough.
  • Support in recovering debts from previous Housing Act enforcement.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR by managing data responsibly and maintaining privacy standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs (A-C or grades 5 to 9), including English Language and Mathematics, or equivalent qualifications demonstrating literacy and numeracy.
  • Proven ability to undertake a wide range of technical and general administrative tasks.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, meeting diverse demands while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Strong customer focus with excellent communication skills, capable of interacting with various stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with data input and extraction from systems.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and a keen interest in improving customer experience and operational processes.
