Our client is an evolving small business group with a diverse portfolio spanning multiple sectors, including Financial Services, Utilities, and Property. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a skilled and driven Financial Accountant/Finance Manager to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about finance and eager to contribute to the success of a dynamic small business environment.

As the Financial Accountant, you will be instrumental in driving the financial success and stability of our business. You will oversee the daily management of financial data, ensure the integrity of ledgers, and handle quarter- and year-end processes, including collaboration with external partners and HMRC. Your role will also involve delivering accurate financial reports, analysing business performance, and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making. This position calls for a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a hands-on approach to resolving challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyse monthly accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Oversee and improve financial processes and controls.
  • Liaise with external accountants for year-end financial statements and tax compliance.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operations.
  • Assist in the development of financial strategies and business plans.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis as required by management.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience as a Financial Accountant, ideally within a small business environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Sage) and Excel. Currently migrating from sage line 50 to Sage Cloud.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex financial information clearly.
