A rare opportunity for a highly talented Tax Manager to bring Tax in-house and create a brand new Tax function at a very successful and still-growing, diverse business which spans B2B and B2C goods and services. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a broad role which will expose you to all areas of the business, and you will have a hands-on approach owning all Tax and Tax Strategy matters.
  • Establish the department and own Tax within the Group with responsibility for Corporation Tax, VAT, Employment Taxes, and everything in between.? Manage the activities and relationships with the Group’s external Tax advisors as required, with an expectation that the current set-up will be continually reviewed, assessed and optimised.? Build and streamline all Tax-related processes to ensure compliance & scalability, with a suite of trackable KPIs to match.? Design & maintain appropriate forecasts for upcoming Tax payments.? Design, communicate and execute the Group's longer term Tax strategy in line with our overall objectives.? Be the go-to expert to input on wider business strategy and other projects as the Tax voice in the room.
This role requires a well organised person who knows what excellent looks like and can create and develop systems and processes where they don’t already exist . Applicants should be/have:
  • Likely to be ACA / CTA qualified with at least 3 years PQE gained in either a large accounting firm or in house with strong UK direct tax knowledge. ? A strong understanding of UK Corporation Tax and some knowledge of indirect Tax.? Passionate about Tax, with a mindset of continuous learning to stay updated on Tax laws and industry best practices.? Proven self-starter - given the breadth of the role you may not have all the answers but you’ll need strong foundational knowledge and a proactive approach.? Technically very strong but commercially aware & solution-orientated.? Strong communicator: you can convey complex tax concepts in a clear and understandable manner.? Demonstrable ability to switch between the detail and bigger picture.
