Reporting to the Special Process Manager, the Laboratory Technician will form part of the Quality team. The role will involve preparation, testing and analysis of welded and brazed joints.
Working hours will be day shifts Monday to Friday, with a lunchtime finish on Fridays. Weekly paid. Long term contracting role with the possibility that the successful candidate could be offered a permanent position should this be desirable for both parties.
Pay rates shown are PAYE and umbrella values. Some overtime is possible, and paid at enhanced rates.
Responsibilities:
Prepare welded and brazed components using metallographic analysis techniques (Hot / cold mount, polish and etch processes)
Analyse metallographic samples using digital microscopes for dimensional conformance and highlight visual non-conformances
Prepare and test welded and brazed components using tensile test equipment
Create certification reports on templates based on the tests perform
Support failure analysis by using metallographic techniques to identify failure sites and failure modes
Maintain the laboratory area including control of consumables and equipment

Key Skills:
Excellent attention to detail, and the ability to follow instruction
Excels in teamwork, and is able to work confidently as an individual
Previous experience in a laboratory environment is essential
Previous metallurgical experience is essential
Candidate must have excellent verbal and written skills
Has the ability to work across various departmental functions within the Company
