Position: Secondary School Teaching Assistant

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Secondary School Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in the teaching and learning process, providing essential support to both students and teachers. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Classroom Support: Assisting teachers in managing the classroom and creating a conducive learning environment for students. Providing one-on-one or small group support to students who require additional help.
  • Curriculum Assistance: Supporting subject teachers in preparing and delivering lessons, as well as helping to develop teaching materials and resources.
  • Student Progress Monitoring: Collaborating with teachers to monitor the academic progress and behavior of students, identifying areas of improvement and suggesting appropriate strategies.
  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support: Assisting students with special educational needs by implementing individualized education plans and providing personalized support to help them achieve their potential.
  • Behaviour Management: Promoting positive behavior within the school setting and assisting in managing challenging behaviors effectively.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Participating in extracurricular activities, such as sports, clubs, or school trips, to foster students' personal and social development.

Requirements:

  • Education: A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics is essential. Additional qualifications or certifications in education, child development, or relevant subjects will be advantageous.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with secondary school-aged children, either as a Teaching Assistant or in a related role, is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Passion: A genuine passion for education and a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young learners.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Adaptability: The ability to adapt to different learning styles and support students with varying abilities.
  • Patience: A patient and empathetic approach when dealing with students facing challenges.
  • Right to work in the UK and a DBS on the update service or willingness to get one
