Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm

Are you an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with expertise in electric motors and drive systems? Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to develop innovative engineering solutions? If you have a strong mechanical engineering background with knowledge of electric motor drivetrains then this could be the role for you.

The Role:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and testing of mechanical components for electric motor systems. You will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development: Create CAD models, technical drawings, and mechanical assemblies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Material Selection & Testing: Investigate materials and manufacturing methods to optimise product performance and durability.
  • Simulation & Analysis: Perform motor calculations, simulations (ANSYS Maxwell), and FEA calculations to validate designs.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Prepare design documentation and ensure compliance with UKCA, CE directives, and international standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Provide input on cost-effective, high-reliability designs, contributing to product innovation and development.
  • Collaboration & Support: Work cross-functionally with engineering teams to solve design challenges and refine product performance.

Skills & Experience Required:

Essential:

  • Degree (BEng/BSc) or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven track record in the design of traction motors for automotive or off-road applications.
  • Strong technical ability in concept-to-production product development.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and detailed drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with motor calculations, ANSYS Maxwell, and FEA simulations.
  • Experience creating compliance documentation (UKCA/CE directives).

Desirable:

  • Capability in dynamic, structural, and thermal analysis.
  • Familiarity with international engineering standards.
