My client is a government funded organisation based in central Birmingham
Description
- Preparing statutory financial statements for the organisation and all its subsidiaries
- Coordinating capital funding allocation across the capital programme and providing strategic advice where necessary
- Managing the fixed asset register and supporting improvement to systems and processes
- Implementing accounting standards in accordance to Local Authority Code of Practice
- Developing systems and processing following the implementation of IFRS16 Lease Accounting and acting as the technical lead for IFRS16 Lease Accounting
- Acting as key point of contact for external auditors for fixed assets (PPE) and capital grants
- Completing capital funding posting and reconciliations between capital funding summary and deferred capital grants monthly
Profile
- Qualified accountant
- Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a busy team, with experience of delivering to strict deadlines
- Experience of month end processes and routines
- Good communication and inter-personal skills, comfortable with liaising with other teams and external parties
- High attention to detail and the ability to produce work to an excellent presentational standard
- Able to demonstrate practical capital accounting experience
- Experience of working on audits or previous experience within public practice
- Desire and ability to learn and develop new skills and be able to embrace change with a 'can do' attitude
