Welcome to THE PIG in the Cotswolds

In January 2024, we acquired the 17th century Barnsley House hotel that is tucked away in the quintessentia al Cotswolds village, just four miles from Cirencester. THE PIG in the Cotswolds offers guests a classic example of an English country garden that evolves with the seasons including a kitchen garden that will supply the produce found on our 25-mile menu.

The Role:

As the Pastry Sous Chef you will play an integral role in the overall operation of our pastry service. Ensuring a consistent delivery and standard at all times. You will be responsible for the junior staff on the section, leading by example and supporting their development.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Oversee the effective running of our pastry service. Ensuring timescales and high standards are met.
  • Prepare an array of desserts which utilise the produce within our kitchen garden and sources from local suppliers.
  • Work closely with the Head Chef/ Senior Sous and kitchen garden team with regards to the produce being used within the pastry section.
  • Ensuring a clean and tidy workstation at all times.
  • Support the development of our kitchen team, working closely with our Apprentice Chefs.

Skills & Experience:

Our kitchens are fast paced and energetic, which is what we look for in an individual. Come with enthusiasm, your knives and a bucketful of passion and we can help you develop the rest. Experience as a Pastry Chef within a similar establishment is required.
