We are seeking an experienced and proactive Housekeeper to join a private household in Devon. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for housekeeping, cleaning, laundry, food preparation, and general household management, ensuring that the home is always immaculate and running smoothly. The role requires flexibility, discretion, and excellent organisational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a small household team.

Cleaning duties will include tidying, silver polishing, window cleaning, and managing household supplies. The housekeeper will also be required to liaise with external contractors. In addition to household maintenance, the role involves laundry and wardrobe care, including ironing, mending, dry-cleaning coordination, and shoe care, ensuring that all clothing and linens are impeccably maintained.

The housekeeper will also provide residential support, preparing the home for family visits and guests, and packing and unpacking for travel. You will be looking after the family and ensuring their stays are enjoyable and as easy as possible.

Additional duties will include local driving for shopping and running errands, as well as providing pet care for two dogs. The housekeeper will also assist in maintaining household calendars, inventories, and records.

This is a full-time, live-in position with a schedule of Thursday - Monday, receiving Tuesday and Wednesday off. Accommodation is provided in a private 2-bedroom house on-site, making this an ideal opportunity for a dedicated and hands-on housekeeper looking for a long-term role in a beautiful setting.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

  • Cleaning, tidying, and maintaining all areas of the home
  • Laundry care, including washing, ironing, mending, and organising dry cleaning

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Previous experience as a housekeeper within a private household
  • Strong cleaning, laundry, and organisational skills
  • Confident cook with experience in food preparation
  • Ability to manage household staff and contractors
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Proactive, discreet, and detail-oriented approach
