IRO children Social Worker

Do you have a strong commitment to ensuring their voices are heard and their outcomes are positive?We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Children Social Worker to join our dedicated Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) Team. In this vital role, you will champion the best interests of children looked after by the Local Authority, ensuring their care plans are robust, tailored to their individual needs, and reflect their aspirations.Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent reviews of care plans: Act as an independent advocate for children in care, reviewing their care plans, ensuring they meet their individual needs, promote their well-being, and reflect their voices.
  • Chair Child Looked After Reviews (CLARRs): Lead and facilitate CLARRs, ensuring all relevant parties participate and contribute to the review process.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships: Build trusting relationships with children in care, their families, carers, social workers, and other professionals involved in their lives.
  • Advocate for children's rights: Champion the best interests of children, ensuring their needs are met, their voices are heard, and their views are considered in all decisions.
  • Contribute to service development: Identify areas for improvement within the IRO team and the wider children's social care service, promoting best practice and contributing to the ongoing development of the service.

Essential Requirements:

  • Must hold a relevant Social Work qualification (e.g. DipSW, BSc, MA) and be registered with Social Care England.
  • Proven experience working with children in care, demonstrating a strong understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures.
  • Ability to build rapport with children, families, and other professionals, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ability to assess complex information, identify risks, and recommend appropriate actions.
  • A passion for safeguarding children and a dedication to ensuring their safety and well-being.
