Clerk of works

Our client is currently seeking a skilled Clerk of Works with a focus on highways for a contract position. This role involves advising on issues related to Section 38's and S278's and their impact on the highway network, ensuring that work adheres to legal agreements and approved designs.

• Advising various departments and partners, including developers and Highway Consultants, on issues related to Section 38's and S278's and their impact on the highway network
• Collaborating with developers and contractors during the Section 38 and Section 278 construction phases, including site inspections, onsite testing, and agreeing on remedial works
• Conducting highway design checks to facilitate highway developments in relation to S38 and S278
• Calculating bonds, establishment fees, and other associated costs for legal agreements related to S38's and S278's
• Attending construction sites to ensure works are completed according to approved designs and coordinating with the developer's contractor
• Maintaining a detailed site diary, including activities undertaken, works completed, materials used, and a photographic record of progress

• Experience in highways engineering and relevant qualifications
• Strong understanding of Section 38 and S278 agreements
• Ability to manage site inspections, onsite testing, and coordinate remedial works
• Excellent communication and liaison skills to work with developers, contractors, and consultants
• Attention to detail for maintaining accurate site diaries and records
• Flexibility to work in Lancashire with a hybrid working arrangement
