SENDIASS Information and Advice Officer

We are seeking a dedicated SENDIASS Information and Advice Officer to support the frontline delivery of the SEND IAS service in Leeds. This role is crucial as the first point of contact on our advice line, providing essential information, guidance, and support to individuals and families navigating SEND processes.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Respond to voicemails, emails, and web enquiries made to the advice line, ensuring timely and accurate information is provided.
  • Offer initial general information and advice on SEND processes and topics, helping to clarify and guide service users.
  • Engage in appropriate signposting based on the nature of enquiries.
  • Collect and manage service user data in compliance with GDPR and other relevant policies.
  • Conduct triage assessments for enquiries that require more detailed advice and support.
  • Assist in the delivery of both virtual and in-person outreach activities, including information sessions, workshops, and advice sessions.
  • Contribute to the creation and updating of service resources such as guides, information videos, and social media content.
  • Escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Uphold and promote Leeds City Council’s values and policies, particularly those related to Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, and Health & Safety.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working within a team to deliver comprehensive support services.
  • Understanding of the needs of vulnerable children and their families, especially those with complex and Special Educational Needs.
  • Ability to interpret legislation in a user-friendly manner to assist families.
  • Skills in defusing potential conflicts and maintaining effective communication.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Proficient in data collection and analysis for strategic monitoring.
  • A good general standard of education, at least to the equivalent of NVQ level 3.
