Venn Group’s public sector legal team is working with a London Borough Council, who are in urgent need of an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer to join their team on a locum basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a well-regarded legal department while benefiting from a fully remote working arrangement.

Job Overview:

This London Borough Council is seeking an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer to handle a manageable caseload of approximately 15 cases relating to key adult social care matters. The role will involve providing expert legal advice and managing Court of Protection (COP) applications, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), and Section 16 & 21 applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle a caseload of approximately 15 cases, advising on all aspects of adult social care law
  • Provide specialist legal advice on Court of Protection (COP) matters, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), and Section 16 & 21 applications
  • Work closely with social services teams, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practice
  • Draft legal documents and prepare applications for court proceedings
  • No court advocacy is required for this role

Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor, barrister, or FILEx Legal Executive with relevant experience in adult social care law
  • Strong working knowledge of Mental Capacity Act 2005, Care Act 2014, and Human Rights Act 1998
  • Experience advising on Court of Protection matters, Section 16 & 21 applications, and DoLS cases
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently in a fully remote role

While experience in all areas is desirable, candidates with transferable skills and a willingness to develop in local government adult social care law are encouraged to apply.
